Low Testosterone in Men: Symptoms, Testing and Treatment in Indianapolis
Feeling tired, gaining weight, losing muscle, struggling with motivation, or noticing a change in your sex drive?
For some men, these changes may be related to low testosterone (Low T). But testosterone is only one part of the picture.
At Fit And Fine Health, we take a physician-led approach to evaluating men with symptoms that could be related to low testosterone—looking beyond a single lab value to understand what may actually be affecting your health.
What Are Common Symptoms of Low Testosterone?
Symptoms associated with low testosterone can include:
● Low energy or persistent fatigue
● Decreased sex drive
● Reduced strength or muscle mass
● Increased abdominal fat or weight gain
● Difficulty recovering from exercise
● Changes in mood or motivation
● Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
● Changes in erections or sexual performance
The challenge is that many of these symptoms are not specific to testosterone deficiency.
Poor sleep, obesity, metabolic disease, medications, stress, thyroid disorders, nutritional issues, and other medical conditions can produce similar symptoms.
That’s why simply checking a testosterone level isn’t always enough.
How Is Low Testosterone Diagnosed?
Evaluating possible testosterone deficiency should start with your symptoms, medical history, and appropriate laboratory testing.
Depending on the individual, an evaluation may include testosterone levels along with additional testing to better understand why testosterone may be low and whether other health issues could be contributing.
A testosterone result should be interpreted in context—not treated as an isolated number.
Does Low Testosterone Automatically Mean You Need TRT?
No.
Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) can be an appropriate treatment for properly selected men with testosterone deficiency, but treatment should be individualized.
For some men, addressing weight, sleep, metabolic health, medications, nutrition, or other underlying factors may be an important part of the treatment plan.
For others, testosterone therapy may be appropriate after a thorough evaluation of symptoms, laboratory findings, goals, benefits, and potential risks.
